An exhibition retracing the main steps in the pilgrimage of Pope Paul VI in the Holy Land took place in the hall of the Franciscan Curia in the Convent of Saint Savior (New Gate) in the Old City of Jerusalem.
The inauguration of the exhibition at the beginning of March also permitted a number of analyses of that historic event both from the view point of the Local Church and that of the Universal Church.
This commemoration of the visit is part of the preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage of Pope Francis (May 24 to 26, 2014). It will be the renewal of the embrace that the Pope of Rome exchanged with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, when Pope Francis will meet Patriarch Bartholomew at the Holy Sepulcher.
In the interview carried out by the Franciscan Media Center, the Apostolic Nuncio said: “To remember does not only mean looking to the past but also looking forward and seeking to identify together the new paths that we can walk together.” It is this that the exhibition, which runs until the end of June, seeks to realize.
